Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today addressed a massive gathering of the Indian community at the much-anticipated ‘Hala Modi’ event at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex in Kuwait City. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the gracious invitation extended by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, noting that this visit was the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years. He thanked the Kuwaiti government for its continued efforts toward the welfare of the Indian community and praised the efforts of Indian expatriates, many of whom work in sectors such as construction, healthcare, and hospitality.
The Prime Minister also highlighted several government initiatives aimed at supporting Indian workers abroad, such as the E-Migrate portal, which helps streamline the migration process and protect workers’ rights. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens abroad, particularly in the Gulf region, where millions of Indian nationals contribute significantly to local economies.
India’s Global Vision: A Friend to the World
Shifting focus to India’s growing stature on the world stage, Prime Minister Modi outlined India’s transformation into a global powerhouse. He described India’s approach as that of a “Vishwabandhu” – a friend to the world, with a focus on peace, progress, and prosperity.
“In just a few decades, India has emerged as the 5th largest economy in the world, and we are leading the world in fintech, digital connectivity, and innovation,” Modi said. He elaborated on India’s rapid strides in technology, infrastructure, and sustainability, and its position as the third-largest global player in the start-up ecosystem. “India’s skill capacity and its thriving innovation ecosystem can create new opportunities for collaboration between our two nations,” Modi stated. He invited Kuwaiti businesses and institutions to explore opportunities for joint ventures and partnerships, particularly in high-tech sectors.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that India and Kuwait’s long-standing relationship, based on mutual respect and shared goals, is poised to deepen further. He noted that both countries are focused on economic growth, stability, and ensuring the welfare of their citizens, and he looked forward to exploring avenues for expanding trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
A Call to Action for the Indian Diaspora
In his closing remarks, Prime Minister Modi extended a special invitation to members of the Indian diaspora to participate in two important events in India in early 2025. He invited them to join the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (Overseas Indian Day) celebrations, which will be held in January 2025, as well as the grand Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world. “These events are an opportunity for you to reconnect with your roots and witness firsthand India’s progress,” Modi encouraged the diaspora.
