Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with his Nepalese counterpart, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, on April 4, 2025, during the 6th BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Summit in Bangkok.
The two leaders reviewed the strong and unique relationship between India and Nepal, expressing satisfaction at the progress made in enhancing physical and digital connectivity, people-to-people linkages, and energy cooperation. They agreed to continue working towards further deepening their multifaceted partnership, which is a cornerstone of India's Neighbourhood First Policy.
This meeting marks another step in the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries, solidifying Nepal as a priority partner for India. The BIMSTEC Summit provides a platform for member nations to discuss regional cooperation and address common challenges, underscoring the importance of this initiative for South Asian nations.
