In a statement released on 15 September 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced that Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will lead a high-level delegation to the General Debate of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. This year's central theme is "Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals Towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress and Sustainability for all."
The Prime Minister's address to the UNGA will focus on three key dimensions: the global context, Cambodia's socio-economic progress, and the country's commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He is expected to highlight transformative actions taken by Cambodia in achieving the SDGs. Accompanying the Prime Minister will be Deputy Prime Minister SOK Chenda Sophea, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, key government officials, and leading business figures.
During his stay in New York, the Prime Minister will engage in bilateral meetings with the United Nations Secretary-General and various foreign dignitaries. The Deputy Prime Minister, on the other hand, will participate in regional and international dialogues, including the 15th ASEAN-Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
The participation of Cambodia's senior officials in these high-level events underscores the country's commitment to regional and international cooperation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has emphasized that these meetings will facilitate discussions on key global issues, including trade, investment, and sustainable development.
