On August 1, 2025, a significant development in the relations between Thailand and Pakistan was announced during a meeting between Director-General of the Department of International Organizations Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama and H.E. Ms. Rukhsana Afzaal, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Thailand.
The two officials were pleased with the progress made in bilateral relations at both the government-to-government level and multilateral forums, such as the United Nations. They welcomed the fruitful Foreign Ministers’ meeting between the two countries on July 22, 2025, at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York. This marked the first time that foreign ministers from both nations had met in three years.
Ms. Jayanama praised Pakistan’s active role during its presidency of the United Nations Security Council for July 2025, particularly its efforts to promote peaceful conflict resolution. She also briefed Ambassador Afzaal on the situation at the Thailand-Cambodia border and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s continued close coordination with Thailand in this regard.
The strengthened ties between Thailand and Pakistan underscore the importance of regional cooperation in addressing global challenges. As a key player in Southeast Asia, Thailand seeks to foster strong relationships with neighboring countries and like-minded nations to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
