Indonesia to Host International Film Festival, Promoting Islamic Values and Cultural Cooperation

In a significant move, the Indonesian government has announced plans to host the Indonesia and Islamic World Film Festival 2025 in Jakarta later this year. The festival, scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2025, aims to promote moderate, peaceful, and inclusive Islamic values through the medium of film.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a briefing for the Embassies of Organization for International Cooperation (OIC) member countries in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, to encourage their participation in the festival. The event was attended by representatives from various OIC member countries, who were briefed on the festival's objectives and theme.

According to Ani Nigeriawati, Director for Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the festival is a key platform for promoting the diversity of Islamic values and good practices in each country. The main theme of the festival is "Stories of Peace," which aims to highlight the importance of peaceful coexistence and tolerance in the face of cultural differences.

The Indonesia and Islamic World Film Festival 2025 is part of Indonesia's efforts to strengthen friendship and cultural exchange with OIC member countries through film. This initiative aligns with Resolution No. 11/51-C, adopted at the 51st OIC Ministerial Conference last June in Istanbul, Türkiye. The resolution emphasizes the importance of cultural cooperation among OIC member countries, particularly in the field of film, to preserve the history of the Islamic world and promote Islamic values.

The festival will feature film screenings and discussions with filmmakers and industry players from OIC countries. It is planned to be held at five different locations in Jakarta, providing a platform for OIC members to share their perspectives and experiences through film.

The Indonesia and Islamic World Film Festival 2025 marks an important step in promoting cultural cooperation and understanding among nations. By showcasing films that promote peace, tolerance, and harmony, the festival aims to contribute to a more inclusive and peaceful global community.

In conclusion, the Indonesia and Islamic World Film Festival 2025 is a significant initiative that promotes cultural exchange and understanding between OIC member countries. Through its focus on film as a medium for promoting Islamic values and cultural diversity, the festival has the potential to foster greater cooperation and peace among nations.
