MFA Clarifies Facts on Thailand-Cambodia Border Situation through Diplomatic Channels

In a statement released on 2 August 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reiterated its commitment to transparency and principled diplomacy in addressing the ongoing border tensions between Thailand and Cambodia.

During the past week, Thailand has continued to clarify facts on the situation through diplomatic channels and key international organizations. According to official sources, Ms. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, reaffirmed Thailand's adherence to the UN Charter, international humanitarian principles, and the Helsinki Final Act in Helsinki+50 Conference under the framework of the Organization for Security and Co-operation Europe (OSCE) in Helsinki.

Thailand's response to the situation has been centered around its commitment to self-defence under international law, with the aim of safeguarding sovereignty and protecting civilian lives. The Ministry's efforts have been underscored by Ambassador H.E. Ms. Nitivadee Manitkul, who met with Mr. Mattis Raustol, Deputy Director-General, Regional Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, to emphasize Thailand's measures were conducted in self-defence under international law.

The Belgian side also expressed appreciation for Thailand's updates and conveyed its hope that the situation would de-escalate and return to normalcy, as highlighted by Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, who met with H.E. Mr. Andries Gryffroy, First Vice President of the Belgian Senate and Chairman of the Belgian-Thai Bilateral Section of the Belgian Inter-Parliamentary Union in Brussels.

Thailand's diplomatic efforts demonstrate its commitment to transparency and multilateral cooperation in addressing border tensions. The Ministry continues to engage with international organizations and countries to resolve the situation through peaceful means and international law, while also clarifying facts to promote better public understanding.
