The new Line of Credit offers Rupees 4850 crores (approximately USD 550 million) to support infrastructure development and other activities in Maldives.
The two leaders also virtually inaugurated a roads and drainage system project in Addu city and six High Impact Community Development Projects in other cities, handing over social housing units and vehicles to the Maldives National Defence Force and Immigration authorities. They also exchanged Terms of Reference for the proposed Free Trade Agreement.
In a symbol of their commitment to conserving nature, Prime Minister Modi and President Muizzu planted mango saplings as part of India's "Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam" [Plant for Mother] campaign and Maldives' "Pledge of 5 million Tree Plantation" campaign. The meeting concluded with Prime Minister Modi reiterating India's commitment to support Maldives and its people, in line with their requirements and priorities.
