Singapore, March 10, 2023 – In a move to bolster regional security and counter the growing threat of terrorism, the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that it will be hosting a high-level security conference in collaboration with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) next month.
The two-day conference, themed “Enhancing Regional Security: Addressing Transnational Threats,” aims to bring together security experts and officials from across the region to share best practices and strategies for combating terrorism, cybercrime, and other emerging threats.
According to MFA spokesperson, “This event marks a significant milestone in our efforts to strengthen regional cooperation and enhance collective security. We look forward to working closely with ASEAN member states to build resilience and foster trust among nations.”
The conference will feature keynote addresses from senior officials from the United States, Japan, and Australia, as well as expert panelists from the International Crisis Group, the RAND Corporation, and other reputable think tanks.
Participants will engage in comprehensive discussions on topics such as countering radicalization, improving intelligence sharing, and strengthening cyber security frameworks. The event also includes a special focus session on small states’ experiences with terrorism and cybersecurity threats.
The Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also announced its participation in the upcoming ASEAN Forum on Counter-Terrorism, scheduled for later this year. This marks a significant demonstration of our commitment to regional security and cooperation.
“As we face rising global challenges, it is more important than ever that we work together as a community of nations to strengthen our collective resilience and protect the well-being of our citizens,” added MFA spokesperson.
The conference will be held at the Singapore Conference Organisation (SCO) in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat. Registration for participants is now open, and interested parties are encouraged to apply through the official website.
