As set out in a formal announcement,
Context
This series of engagements represents a continuation of the Ministry’s broader strategy to leverage Canadian development assistance to promote sustainable economic growth and improve social outcomes. The statement does not mention the total value of the partnerships being solidified. In March, the ministry said that it was prioritizing partnerships with nations “facing significant development challenges.” The visit to Ireland, according to the statement, “strengthened economic partnerships” whilst the engagements in Bangladesh and Thailand “advanced global development objectives.” The visit to Lebanon and Jordan, as announced in August, focused on “humanitarian response efforts, support refugees, expand inclusive economic opportunities and build resilient communities.” The 2026 annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, at which Secretary Sarai participated, are a key component of this broader approach, the statement does not mention.
