President Murmu welcomed President Peña, expressing her country's belief that relations between India and Paraguay have been cordial and friendly due to shared values and principles such as democracy, human rights, rule of law, freedom of expression, peace, respect for sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The two countries have consistently stood firm on these principles, rooted in their civilizational values and historical experiences.
The Indian President appreciated the Government of Paraguay for its strong condemnation of terror and solidarity following a heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam. She also expressed gratitude for Paraguay's continued support on global issues at multilateral forums like the United Nations.
During the visit, bilateral trade between India and Paraguay was noted to have grown, but President Murmu emphasized that there is considerable scope for expanding relations in the trade and commercial sectors.
Both leaders acknowledged their shared developmental challenges as part of the Global South. They agreed that investing in education, employment, and capacity building are key strategies for overcoming these challenges, with a focus on technology-enabled sustainable development and equitable access to technologies.
President Murmu offered India's expertise in Digital Public Infrastructure to Paraguay, citing it as an area of national priority for her country. The two leaders expressed confidence that this visit would strengthen ties between the two nations, opening up new avenues for cooperation.
The visit marked a significant milestone in Indo-Paraguayan relations, with both countries looking to deepen their partnerships and address shared challenges.
