New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Rt. Hon. Winston Peters, has concluded a two-day official visit to India, during which he held bilateral discussions with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.

The talks took place on May 29, 2025, at New Delhi, where the two leaders covered a range of topics including trade and economy, defence and security, traditional medicine, sports, education, and people-to-people ties. The visit marks Peters' third trip to India, following previous visits in March 2024 and February 2020.

During his visit, Deputy Prime Minister Peters reiterated New Zealand's unequivocal condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, expressing solidarity with the Indian people. The discussions also focused on regional and global issues of mutual interest, as both countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to a free, open, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

The visit is part of the growing momentum in bilateral relations between New Zealand and India, marked by regular high-level exchanges and a shared commitment to a deepening multifaceted partnership. This follows Prime Minister Christopher Luxon's official visit to India in March 2025.

India and New Zealand share warm and friendly ties, underpinned by shared democratic values and growing cooperation across various sectors. The visit demonstrates the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries, with both nations committed to strengthening their ties in areas such as trade, defence, and people-to-people exchanges.
