The Ministry of External Affairs has announced the launch of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, a traditional Hindu pilgrimage, for 2025. The yatra, scheduled to take place from June to August this year, will see five batches of 50 Yatris each travel through the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand State, and ten batches of 50 Yatris each traverse the Nathu La Pass in Sikkim State.
The process for selecting participants has been made easier with the launch of an online application website atkmy.gov.in. The website allows applicants to submit their applications, which will be selected through a fair, computer-generated, random, and gender-balanced process. This marks the continuation of a fully computerized process that began in 2015, eliminating the need for handwritten letters or fax submissions.
The feedback options on the website enable potential Yatris to obtain information, register their observations, or make suggestions for improvement. The Ministry's efforts aim to streamline the selection process and provide a seamless experience for applicants.
According to the Ministry, thousands of Yatris will embark on this spiritual journey, marking an exciting milestone in India's cultural heritage.
