In a bid to strengthen its regional and global presence, Singapore has been actively engaging with ASEAN countries, participating in international organizations, and addressing pressing global issues.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Singapore’s diplomatic ties with over 150 countries continue to expand, with a focus on fostering stronger relationships with key partners in Southeast Asia. The country has reaffirmed its commitment to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) by attending several high-level meetings and dialogues, including the 36th ASEAN Summit.

In addition to its regional engagements, Singapore plays an active role in various international organizations, such as the United Nations (UN), World Trade Organization (WTO), APEC, and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). These organizations provide a platform for Singapore to share its expertise, promote its interests, and contribute to global governance.

Climate change, counter-terrorism, disarmament, cybersecurity, and international peacekeeping are among the key issues that Singapore addresses through various diplomatic channels. The country has also been actively involved in promoting sustainable development, small states’ rights, and water agreements with neighboring countries.

Singapore’s overseas missions, comprising over 50 embassies, high commissions, permanent missions, consulates-general, and trade offices worldwide, serve as a vital extension of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The country is also home to 73 resident foreign high commissions and embassies, 44 foreign consular posts, and 14 international organizations. This demonstrates Singapore’s commitment to fostering diplomatic relations with other nations and promoting global understanding.

In conclusion, Singapore’s active engagement in regional and global affairs underscores its role as a responsible and engaged nation in the Asia-Pacific region. By strengthening its ties with ASEAN countries, participating in international organizations, and addressing pressing global issues, Singapore continues to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
