Related to the public interest in the Russian documentary “One Faith, One Language” by the screenwriter and director Elena Mironenko, which claims that the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius and their followers have nothing to do with Bulgaria, we declare that the film is scientifically unsustainable and the historical periods presented in it are presented incorrectly.
Due to the replaced or deliberately omitted fundamental facts in the film, we remind that within the Joint Multidisciplinary Expert Commission on Historical and Educational Issues, the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Northern Macedonia have reached an agreement on historical figures and events in our common history, including St. Cyril and St. Methodius, St. Clement, St. Naum and others, approved by the governments of both countries.
We hope that third parties are not directly or indirectly involved in such provocations, that they do not aim at creating a division, and that we will no longer witness such cases, which contradict the generally accepted theses in world historiography.
