Pledge of cooperation between the United States and Saudi Arabia for the purpose of peacefully exploring outer space

The governments of the United States of America and Saudi Arabia pledged to increase bilateral cooperation in the exploration and use of space for peaceful purposes in a joint statement published on November 28, 2023.

A Framework Agreement for Cooperation in Aeronautics and the Exploration and Use of Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes will be started by both countries as a result of the collaborative effort, which is coordinated with the Jeddah Communique.

Chirag Parikh, the deputy assistant to the president and executive secretary of the U.S. National Space Council, Abdullah Alswaha, governor of Saudi Communications, Space, and Technology Commission, chief executive officer of a Saudi Arabian space agency, as well as Dr. Mohammed Altamimi, deputy chairman, made the announcement.

Aeronautics, Earth and space science, space operations, and the peaceful exploration and use of outer space are just a few of the potential cooperative activities that the United States and Saudi Arabia will discuss in their negotiations. Technical discussions between the two countries will improve cooperation in commercial and regulatory development, responsible space behavior, and space security. Opportunities for collaboration within their respective commercial space industries will be made possible by this collaborative effort.
