Shen Yiqin, the Chinese President’s special envoy, led a delegation to Sri Lanka

Shen Yiqin, the Special Envoy and State Councilor for Chinese President Xi Jinping, paid a four-day official visit to Sri Lanka on November 19, 2023. The All-China Women’s Federation is headed by State Councilor Yiqin. On November 20, 2023, the delegation and the State Councilor paid President Ranil Wickremesinghe a polite visit. The call’s discussions centered on improving the two nations ‘cooperation in the areas of agriculture, sports, and tourism.

The delegation also visited Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, the Speaker, and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardina during the visit.

A delegation of 18 people, including Zhao Fengtao, Vice Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, Sun Weidong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and State Councilor Meng Yang, were also present.

During their visit, the delegation made stops at the Galle Fort, Gale National Maritime Museum, and Hambanthota Port.
