The Ministry of Health wishes to advise that rumors circulating on social media as of 29th May 2021 about vaccinations being conducted and prohibited by Chinese Nationals at Faleolo Airport on 29th May 2021 are FALSE
For clarification:
1. The Ministry of Health is rolling out COVID-19 Vaccinations per district as per Public Notices for the past 10 days for Sagaga District.
2. Thus from Monday May 24th – Friday, 28th May; COVID-19 Vaccinations were conducted in districts of Sagaga No. 3 and Sagaga No. 4 from 9am to 6pm each day
3. On Saturday 29th May, 2021 only allocated fixed sites in Apia Urban Area and Faleata were open and conducted Covid-19 vaccinations from 9am to 1pm.
4. There were NO scheduled outreach/mobile vaccination teams for the 29th May 2021
5. The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Samoa has secured their own vaccine for use by the Chinese Nationals in Samoa.
Thus, we wish to reassure the public that COVID-19 vaccinations were not conducted in District of Aana as per schedule and roll out of the Ministry of Health. We also ask the public to refrain from spreading false information and to use accurate sources of information such as the Ministry of Health website www.health.gov.ws and Ministry of Health Facebook Page @healthsamoa for accurate information on COVID-19 or COVID-19 Call Centre Toll Free number Ph: 8006440.
