Alexei Overchuk’s working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan

On 21 August, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk travelled to Tashkent, the Republic of Uzbekistan, on a working visit.

As part of the visit, Alexei Overchuk had a working
meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and
Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov.

The parties discussed bilateral trade as well as
cooperation in the economy, investment, transport and logistics. They paid particular
attention to expanding region-to-region interaction, cooperation ties and
logistics corridors.

The signing of an Action Plan (road map) for the
implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the
Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan as it
applies to expanding Russia–Uzbekistan logistics corridors was among the most
important issues under discussion. This document outlines priority actions
aimed at creating the necessary infrastructure and putting in place logistics
services. The roadmap sets out the bilateral interaction format to improve
customs, sanitary and phytosanitary procedures, to fast-track the procedure for
moving goods between the two countries, and to expand interaction between the
two countries’ state agencies in the sphere of digitalisation. It also contains
specific practical actions for implementing infrastructure projects.

The parties agreed to step up their activities in an
effort to implement the agreed-upon investment projects included in the Economic
Cooperation Programme. They also discussed preparations for the Second Russia–Uzbekistan
Interregional Cooperation Forum and the industry-specific exhibition Made in Uzbekistan in Moscow.

Alexei Overchuk and Sardor Umurzakov reaffirmed their commitment
to continue the constructive dialogue across all areas of interaction between
the countries.
