Alexander Novak and Alexei Overchuk on a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan

As part of a working trip to Kazakhstan, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin.

The participants discussed key bilateral issues in the
fuel and energy sector, including in the production and transport of oil and
natural gas, and in the electric power industry. They also discussed Russian
companies’ possible participation in the gas infrastructure development of
northern and eastern Kazakhstan.

Russian-Kazakhstani bilateral and multilateral
interaction in the fuel and energy sector is based on partnership and is
steadily progressing, Alexander Novak noted during the meeting. “Russia and Kazakhstan’s electric power systems
operate synchronously and are highly reliable,” he said. “In many ways, we
cooperate via the CIS Electric Power Council, the Eurasian Economic Union, and OPEC+
in the oil sector. We continue to work closely on expanding existing oil projects
and developing new and promising projects in the oil and gas sector. We are
discussing the supplies of not only primary energy resources, but also petrochemicals
to the republic.”

The petrochemical industry, including projects for the
production of polypropylene, polyethylene and other products, are among the
priority areas of the two countries’ energy relations. According to Alexander
Novak, growing gas chemical production and the corresponding expansion of the
LNG filling infrastructure will have a positive effect on bilateral trade.
