On the bilateral meetings of Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi and the Foreign Ministers of China and Kyrgyzstan

Xi’an, May 13, 2021 – On the margins of the second Meeting of Foreign Ministers held in the Central Asia – China format, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi held separate talks with Wang Yi, Member of the State Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, as well as Ruslan Kazakbayev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the talks, the Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and China discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The ministers compared notes on current international issues. They noted the need to increase engagement at the high and highest levels, as well as the importance of developing inter-parliamentary relations.

“Our countries have demonstrated their full commitment to a high level of trust during the pandemic. Mutual support in difficult times demonstrated truly friendly relations between the two countries,” Mr. Tileuberdi said.

The Kazakh Foreign Minister briefed his counterpart on the measures taken by the Government of Kazakhstan to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and the rollout of the domestic QazVac vaccine. Kazakhstan commended China’s resolute measures to combat the coronavirus epidemic.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi noted that bilateral relations with Kazakhstan are one of the priorities in China’s diplomacy. He emphasized that China is ready to work with Kazakhstan to promote bilateral cooperation in all areas.

During the bilateral meeting with Minister Kazakbayev, the parties discussed issues of political and economic cooperation, including ways to increase bilateral trade, protect mutual investments and support cooperation in the water and energy sector. The parties held an extensive discussion on the situation in Central Asia, as well as cooperation within the framework of international and integration groupings

Mr. Tileuberdi stressed that the mutual trust and respect will continue to serve as a solid foundation for further deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries and bolstering a constructive dialogue in all areas.
