Jamaica and South Africa sign Joint Communiqué in effort to strengthen longstanding partnership.

Jamaica and the Republic of South Africa have signed a Joint Communiqué, signalling their agreement to strengthen the longstanding cooperation between the two countries in several critical areas, including science and technology, art, culture, entertainment, the creative industries and sport. 
The delegations also explored the prospect of collaboration in: trade and investment, tourism and agriculture. Candidatures, reparations as well as regional and multilateral issues were also highlighted as areas of interests for both delegations.
The discussions were jointly led by Ambassador Sheila Sealy Monteith, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, and Ambassador Maud Dhlomo, Deputy Director General, Americas and Europe, Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa. Ambassador Monteith was supported by a cadre of technocrats across various ministries, departments and agencies.
