JAMAICA ELECTED TO ECLAC PRESIDING BUREAU

Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade affirmed Jamaica’s commitment to its new role on the Presiding Bureau. The Minister said, “Under the Chairmanship of Argentina, Jamaica looks forward to working alongside Cuba, Costa Rica and Nicaragua to promote socio-economic development through regional and sub-regional cooperation and integration.”
Minister Johnson Smith also congratulated Mr. José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs on his new role as Executive Secretary of the ECLAC.

ECLAC member states met in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 24 to 26 October 2022 to discuss proposals outlined in the ECLAC publication introduced at the 39th Session: “Towards transformation of the development model in Latin America and the Caribbean: production, inclusion and sustainability.”
Jamaica has been elected as a Vice President of the Presiding Bureau of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC/CEPAL) for the 2022-2024 biennium. ECLAC is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations.
