- On December 12, 2022, Warsaw hosted Consultations between Poland and India’s Foreign Office. Shri Sanjay Verma, Secretary( West) of the Ministry of External Affairs, oversaw the Indian side. Mr. Marcin Przydacz, undersecretary of state for security, the Americas, Asia, and European policy in Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was in charge of the Polish side.
- Poland and India have a long history of cordial ties. Reviewing the agenda for bilateral cooperation across various sectors was made possible by the consultations. On issues of shared interest on a regional and international level, both sides also voiced their opinions.
- The enormous potential of bilateral trade and investment relations was acknowledged by both parties. In recent years, bilateral trade has grown steadily; in 2021, it will reach US$ 4.3 billion. Over US$ 3 billion has been invested by Indian businesses in Poland, while US$ 700 million has come from Polish investments in India. Agriculture, food processing, information technology, and the green transition were identified as potential areas for furthering bilateral cooperation during the consultations. In this regard, both parties expressed satisfaction with the discussions that took place at the October 2022 India-Pakistan Joint Commission meeting on Economic Cooperation’s sixth round.
- The Indo-Pacific, India’s neighbor, the conflict in Ukraine, cooperation in multilateral organizations like the UN, and UNSC reforms were just a few of the regional and global issues that both sides discussed.
- On this particular occasion, a contract was also signed allowing family members of diplomatic missionaries and posts to work for pay. The following round of Foreign Office Consultations will be held in New Delhi at mutually convenient times by both parties.
