28th Meeting of India-China Border Affairs Working Mechanism Emphasizes Peace and Dialogue

The 28th India-China Border Affairs Working Mechanism Meeting emphasizes dialogue and peace.

On November 30, 2023, the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs( WMCC) held its 28th meeting. The Chinese delegation, led by the Director-General of Boundary& Oceanic Affairs at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had discussions with the Indian delegation under the direction of the Joint Secretary( East Asia) of that agency.

Both sides thoroughly reviewed the situation along the Line of Actual Control( LAC) in the Western Sector of the India-China border areas during the meeting. The discussions were open, constructive, and in-depth exploration of ideas for resolving unfinished business and achieving total disengagement from Eastern Ladakh.

The urgent need to preserve peace and tranquility along the border areas, ensuring a stable environment and preventing any untoward incidents, was agreed upon by both parties. In order to achieve their goals of total disengagement and border stability, the delegations vowed to maintain communication through both military and diplomatic channels and stressed the significance of holding the Senior Commanders ‘Meeting’s next round as soon as possible.
