His Excellency President Irfaan Ali met with the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) Assistant Director General and Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, Mr. Mario Lubetkin and his delegation in the Bahamas.

Discussions centered around plans leading up to Guyana’s hosting of the FAO conference in 2024, and how the organisation and Guyana can collaborate to have meaningful action deliverables towards a more resilient and sustainable food-secure region. Dr. Ali and the FAO representatives also spoke about several other areas including food security and parallel works being done by various agencies and platforms. Also present at today’s meeting was the Bahamas’ Ambassador to the FAO, HE Winston Pinnock.
