In short, a caravan against hatred and in favor of love between Cubans in Cuba and the world and between the peoples of Cuba and the United States, for the Cuban family and for Cuba Yes and Blockade No.

You can join in support of the caravan on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social networks.

As the Cuban National Hero #MartiVive said: “Whoever stands up today for Cuba stands up for all time.”

After 60 years of blockade, decreed by the US government in February 1962, the Cuban population is today experiencing a particularly difficult situation that affects their well-being, integrity and livelihood, affecting access to products, services and medicines of first necessity.

As a result of the combined impact of the 243 measures taken by the Trump government against Cuba, which have been maintained and reinforced with new arbitrary sanctions by the current Administration of President Biden, with the purpose of perfecting the economic fence and cutting off all sources of access to the Cuban economy, Cuba’s access to legitimate income, as well as financial operations to guarantee trade, investment and essential production processes for supplying the population, have been made extremely difficult.

The extraterritorial application of the blockade has reached unprecedented levels of aggressiveness. Its effects harm the interests and sovereign rights of Cuba and third countries, as well as the citizens of the United States, who are not exempt from suffering the consequences of this cruel and illegal policy, which contravenes the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and International Law, including international trade rules and freedom of navigation.

The US government has taken advantage of the difficult conditions generated by the COVID-19 pandemic to reinforce the blockade in an opportunistic and inhumane manner with the purpose of destabilizing the country and imposing its interests of domination and internal electoral politics. These measures are immoral and unjustifiable in the context of Covid-19 and highlight the cruel and criminal nature of the blockade.

Puentes de Amor is an organization of Cuban and American friends of Cuba in the United States, diverse people of different creeds and ideologies, united in love and friendship.

The Cuban people thank the friends for their material solidarity to confront Covid19 and the blockade and for their struggle to try to dismantle brick by brick the aberrant and inhuman wall of the blockade.
