By Prensa Latina

Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, 1 August 2021. The province’s health system received today from Jamaica a donation of medical supplies to combat Covid-19, from Cuban health professionals and solidarity activists in that Caribbean nation.

At the Antonio Maceo International Airport, Héctor Mustelier, from the International Relations Department in the provincial division of the Ministry of Public Health, thanked the gesture that provides much-needed means to care for patients infected with the SARS-COV-2 coronavirus.

This first shipment, which will be followed by another in the next few days, included syringes, injection needles, cannulas, masks and face shields, tools used in anaesthesiology and disinfectants, which will be quickly distributed in Santiago’s hospital network.

The tourist agency Caribbean Latin Travel supported the organization of this selfless aid, which reaches the territory in the midst of a strong outbreak of the pandemic with hundreds of confirmed cases daily.

Talking on behalf of the Aerogaviota crew, Reinaldo Hechavarría expressed his satisfaction for fulfilling this humanitarian mission and contributing to Cuba’s efforts in such a complex epidemiological situation.

Cubans residing in Jamaica, like many others from abroad, have joined this donation with medical supplies.
