Minister of Justice of Namibia holds a meeting with the Cuban Ambassador.

Namibia, February 21st, 2022- The Hon. Mrs. Yvonne Dausab, Minister of Justice of Namibia, received Sidenio Acosta, Ambassador of Cuba to this African country, at the headquarters of that institution.

The Minister updated the Cuban diplomat on the particularities of the Namibian judicial system. In addition, she explained the efforts of the Ministry to update the legal practices in the country.

On his part, Ambassador Acosta explained the development of Cuban vaccines against Covid-19 and their effectiveness against the pandemic. He also highlighted the vaccination campaign developed in Cuba for children between two and 18 years old, the first of its kind in the world.

In addition, he explained the effects caused by the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba. The Ambassador denounced the 243 measures imposed by the Trump Administration to reinforce this US genocidal policy, which are still in force by President Joe Biden.

Ambassador Acosta thanked Namibia for its firm condemnation of the sanctions imposed on Cuba. In this sense, he recalled the Namibian support for the Cuban resolution in the UN and the one approved within the African Union, which demand the unconditional lifting of the blockade imposed on his country.

Minister Dausab reiterated the solidarity of Namibia towards Cuba. She highlighted the contributions of the Caribbean island to the independence of Namibia and the fight against colonialism in the rest of Africa. Likewise, she highlighted the achievements of the Cuban Revolution in different areas.

Yvonne Dausab has held the position of Minister of Justice since March 21st, 2020, when she was appointed by President Hage Geingob, at the start of his second term.
