Minister of Health of St. Kitts and Nevis receives Cuban Ambassador

Basseterre, February 15, 2022- On Tuesday morning, the Minister of Health of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Honorable Akilah Byron-Nisbett, in the company of the Permanent Secretary of Health, Dr. Delores Stapleton-Harris, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, David Rivero Perez, at the headquarters of her institution.

During the meeting, both sides agreed on the will to continue strengthening cooperation between their countries and addressed issues of common interest in other areas of medical services.

The Cuban diplomat updated on the epidemiological situation in his country, as well as advances in biotechnology and the effectiveness of Cuban vaccines against Covid-19.

For her part, the Minister of Health thanked the Ambassador for the historical solidarity of Cuba in this sector and for the training of young locals in Cuban universities, expressing her interest in continuing the preparation of these professionals in medical specialties.

A brigade of 13 specialists, including doctors, nurses, and laboratory personnel -who work in the hospitals of Basseterre and Charlestown- is currently working in the Federation.
