Helsinki, May 8th. – On the afternoon of Saturday, May 8th, the Annual Assembly of the Finland-Cuba Friendship Association (AAFC) took place through the virtual platform Microsoft Teams.
At the opening, the board of the Association kindly gave the floor to the representative of Cuba in this capital, VÃctor Manuel RodrÃguez Etcheverry, who, during his speech, read a fraternal message of gratitude and congratulations, sent by the Hero of the Republic of Cuba and President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Fernando González Llort.
In said statement, González Llort congratulated the Friendship Association for the work results obtained in the complex year that is ending. Likewise, he praised the excellent work carried out by its outgoing president Paula Pere, who has guided the organization during the last 12 years in a satisfactory way, maintaining its unity and activism. The Cuban Hero took the opportunity to thank the relevant role of struggle that the friends of the AAFC have played together with our people throughout all these years, supporting causes such as the liberation of the child Elián, of the 5 Cuban heroes prisoners of the Empire and the vital fight against the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba for almost 60 years.
The situation of the pandemic prevented this 2021 from holding the meeting in person. However, the fruitful debates generated within its board of directors, as well as the tireless energies to continue strengthening the friendship between our peoples have multiplied in the feelings of friends throughout the geography of this Nordic country, who feel and appreciate our people as a brother.
