Former Prime Minister ofJamaica commends Cuba’s progress in the development of COVID-19 vaccine candidates

Kingston, Jamaica, 12 April 2021. Former Prime Minister of Jamaica Percival James Patterson reiterated his appreciation to Cuba for the advances that the Greatest Island in the Antilles has made in the research and development of COVID 19vaccine candidates.

In a message sent to the Cuban Ambassador in Jamaica, the prominent Jamaican leader expressed: “Allow me to extend my warmest congratulations to Cuba for its magnificent and spectacular progress in the development of Covid 19 vaccines despite the tremendous difficulties faced by the country. “

Since the beginning of the pandemic, PJ Patterson has recognized Cuba’s international aid in the COVID-19 confrontation and has stressed that the humanitarian and scientific actions carried out by the Caribbean island are worthy of the highest recognition.

In an April 2020 article entitled: “International Solution to the COVID Pandemic,” the former Prime Minister of Jamaica applauded the generosity of the Cuban government and people in sending hundreds of doctors, nurses and other health experts to other countries to fight COVID-19; the sustained training of Cuban medical and technical personnel; and the advances of the neighbouring Caribbean nation in scientific research for drug development.
