Cuban consulates in Europe to assist Cuban residents in Ukraine

Havana,16 March 2022. Cuban consulates in several European nations and the General Directorate of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad (DGACCRE) will assist Cubans in Ukraine, local media reported.

DGACCRE Director Ernesto Soberon made the announcement on Twitter, and explained that Cuban consular offices in Poland, Romania, Belarus, Slovakia and Hungary will also assist Cubans.

He pointed out that, due to the armed conflict in Ukraine, and in order not to suspend consular services for Cuban residents in Ukraine, this measure will be in force until further notice.

Soberon added that “this will guarantee, among other things, the continuity of procedures already started in Kiev (the capital of Ukraine), other services that our compatriots need to use hereafter and the systematic exchange with them and their families in Cuba.”

The senior official added that “these consular representations will provide useful information to people who want to travel abroad from Ukraine, with the previous coordination with relevant authorities.”
