Cuban Ambassador holds fruitful meeting with Namibian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

Namibia, July 20th, 2021- Sidenio Acosta Aday, Cuban Ambassador to Namibia, held a productive meeting with Hon. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Vice President of SWAPO Party, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.

The Cuban diplomat updated the Namibian senior leader on the epidemiological situation in Cuba, the performance of the 2 Cuban vaccines and the development of 3 other Cuban vaccine candidates against Covid-19. Ambassador Acosta also explained the effects on the Cuban economy derived from the incidence of the pandemic and the reinforcement of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.

In the same way, he thanked the Namibian Foreign Minister for the vote in favour of the Cuban resolution presented at the UN against that US policy.

For her part, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked the information received and reiterated the solidarity and support of her country towards Cuba. She reiterated that her government and SWAPO will always be at the side of Cuba in its struggle to maintain her sovereignty and independence.

Likewise, she highlighted the advances of Cuban science and the solidarity of the Caribbean island with other countries in the current international context.

Both diplomats highlighted the excellent state of historical bilateral relations between the two countries.

Also present were the Hon. Jenelly Matundu, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, and Juan Carlos Oliva Núñez, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Cuban Embassy.
