Cuba participated in the X Virtual Forum United Kingdom-Caribbean

Havana, March 18, 2021. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, chaired the Cuban delegation that participated, as an Observer Country, in the 10th UK-Caribbean Virtual Forum.
In his speech, the Cuban Minister thanked the invitation to this Forum, made by the British Foreign Minister, Dominic Raab, and expressed his satisfaction for the possibility of sharing experiences on issues that unite and identify Cuba with the Caribbean and in which there are experiences and potentialities to work together with the region and also with the United Kingdom.
Rodríguez Parrilla praised the importance of cooperation on issues that require urgent and collective responses, such as confronting climate change, natural disaster situations and the COVID-19 pandemic, in which positive experiences are already shown, based on principles of solidarity and cooperation.
He also stressed that our country has had to face these challenges in a scenario of unprecedented worsening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government.
Likewise, the Cuban Foreign Minister reiterated his willingness to continue participating actively in the preparatory stage of the upcoming Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26); and to continue collaborating with the Caribbean region, with the United Kingdom and with other countries, in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is the third time that, in the same condition, Cuba is part of this event, which is held approximately every two years. Its fundamental objective is to serve as a platform for a high-level dialogue between the United Kingdom, the CARICOM countries and the British Overseas Territories on important bilateral, regional and international issues.
