The challenges facing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation concerns the insufficient material and financial resources, which has slowed down the work; the lack of the specific skills following the retirement of the veterans and the lack of a building capable of housing all the Ministry’s services. For the future, Minister Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO committed as the Ministry to continue to carry out certain activities with enthusiasm and energy in order to implement the vision of the Government of Burundi 2040-2060. I quote here: pursuing a foreign policy based on the economic diplomacy; defending the interests of Burundi and the Burundians abroad; enhance the image of Burundi abroad through cultural diplomacy and tourism; continue Burundi’s efforts continuing to play its role in finding the solutions; ensuring an increased presence of Burundi and the Burundians in the regional and international organizations; strengthening the capacities of the Ministry Staff and finally acquiring the Burundi’s own buildings in its diplomatic missions.
