The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation received in audience a Chinese delegation

During the visit that the President of the Republic of Burundi, His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE made to the Sichuan province, he was inspired by agriculture. Burundi wants to use it as a model and the institutions are waiting for the signature of the memorandum of understanding of the document which defines the partnership between the two parties. Note that the Sichuan region, located in the west of China, covers 91% of the Chinese population and is rich in agriculture.
The Minister warmly thanked the Vice-Governor for those projects and hopes to see an increase in the production and an improvement in the living conditions of Burundians by emphasizing why the President of the Republic of Burundi highlights the agriculture. This is because it is difficult to lead a hungry population, he added.
The Minister finally reminded the delegation that the Burundian side remains determined in strengthening the friendly relations with the People’s Republic of China.
The two sides held fruitful exchanges regarding friendly relations. This is why the Sichuan province sent thirteen (13) experts specialized in the field of agriculture with the modern products to improve the agricultural sector, a good sign appreciated by Burundian leaders seen that capacity building in the agricultural sector has contributed greatly to the increase in the agricultural yield in Burundi.
In his welcoming remarks, H.E Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO welcomed that delegation, emphasizing that the friendship between Burundi and China is very historic seen that Burundi has always supported China.

On the side of the Chinese delegation, the Vice-Governor is delighted that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the friendly relations that exist between Burundi and China, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. Indeed, the major cooperation projects between the two countries are improved through the close cooperation between leaders, particularly in the agricultural field. To implement those projects, that delegation aims to sign a memorandum of understanding and strengthen the cooperation which is entirely beneficial in the context of the modern cultivation (seed selection) and the construction of the infrastructure.

On friday, december 22, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, H.E Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO, received in audience a Chinese delegation led by the Vice-Governor of the province of Sichuan in the People’s Republic of China, Mr. HU Yun.
