During the High Level Meeting of the Regional Monitoring Mechanism of the Peace, Security and Cooperation Framework for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Region held in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo on february 24, 2022, the Heads of State and Government reaffirmed the importance of improving the processes of traceability and certification of natural resources in the region in the service of regional stability and development. They also noted that it is also important to apply in this regard the recommendations resulting from the high-level regional workshop on natural resources in the Great Lakes Region which was held from august 31 to september 2, 2021 Khartoum in Sudan.
The Heads of State welcomed the decision of the United States of America and the European Union and its Member States to lift the economic sanctions taken against the Republic of Burundi.
The Heads of State and the Government decided to collaborate closely with a view to accelerating the identification and financing of cross-border projects promoting integration, consolidating partnerships with international financial institutions and other partners and jointly mobilizing resources at the service of regional socio-economic integration, etc.
