This Thursday, October 7, 2021, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Burundi HE Mr. Yasser Elsayed and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation Mr. Ferdinand Bashikako proceeded to the delivery and reception of a donation of medicines offered by the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Government of the Republic of Burundi.
The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Burundi HE Mr. Yasser Elsayed, said that it was within the framework of supporting the efforts of HE Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic of Burundi, to develop the country, that that donation of medicines was granted. He said the Egyptian President H.E.M. Abdel Fattah Al-sisi is very determined to honor all the commitments made during the recent visit in March of HE Evariste Ndayishimiye to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In his word of thanks, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation Mr. Ferdind Bashikako returned to the good relations of friendship and cooperation that characterize the two countries based on the existence of a cordon historical and natural umbilical which is the Nile river with Burundi upstream and Egypt downstream. He said that cooperation between Burundi and Egypt dates back several years and has always been characterized by multiple supports in various fields.
Mr. Ferdinand Bashikako said that progress towards a modern and prosperous nation requires a good management and equitable and sustainable development of human capital. “It is in this perspective that the Government of Burundi included in its National Development Plan (PND 2018-2027) priority actions to improve access to healthcare and the level of health of the population through a system of health efficient, strong and resilient. After having called on its multiple partners, here is that in response, the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt has decided to grant 15 packages (2 tons), a donation of medicines to relieve ailments of Burundians and foreign patients who are receiving health care at the Kamenge Military Hospital and the Bujumbura Police Hospital,”said the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation.
Mr. Ferdinand Bashikako ended his remarks by reiterating his feelings of gratitude, on behalf of the Government of Burundi, to the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt which continues to demonstrate its effective will to support the efforts of the Burundian Government.
It should be remembered that this donation of medicines is mainly composed of consumables for the hemodialysis unit of the Military Hospital of Kamenge and the Police Hospital of Bujumbura.
