Tenth Meeting: Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation for the DRC and the Region

 The Heads of State and Government of the signatory countries of the Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Region met on february 24, 2022 in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo under the co-presidency of His Excellency Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, the President of this country with the representatives of the guarantor institutions namely the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) and the Organ for Politics, Defense and Security Cooperation of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Burundi Country was represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, His Excellency Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO.

The Heads of State took stock of the political and security situation in the Great Lakes Region as well as the progress made in the implementation of the Framework Agreement since their last meeting, held in Kampala, Uganda on october 08, 2018 and gave conclusions on:

  • An Implementation of the Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation;
  • A Promotion of dialogue and inclusive political processes;
  • A Strengthening security and judicial cooperation against negative forces;
  • A Promoting regional integration;
  • A Promotion of the role of women, youth and civil society;
  • And next High Level Meeting of the Regional Oversight Mechanism.
