Strategic relations between the Government of Burundi and the Diaspora are normalizing

The meeting of the President of the Republic, on the sidelines of the European Union-African Union summit with Burundians living in the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, in total exclusivity.
– The organization with resounding success of the Diaspora Week in july 2021 in which the Head of State actively participated by leading a moralization session with the brothers and sisters of the Diaspora. Preparations for the organization of another week dedicated to the Diaspora, 2022 edition are already advanced. Its official launch is scheduled for tuesday, july 26, 2022.
The goal is to ensure that Burundian labor investigations abroad leave legally with legal and social protection. The signing of these cooperation agreements in the field of labor mobility was one of the factors that prompted the United States to raise Burundi’s level in the fight against human trafficking: from level 2 with surveillance at level 2 unsupervised, what I call level full.
-The Ministry has also developed a sector strategy for the implementation of the national diaspora policy. He also proceeded to the signing with the Minister in charge of Finance of an Order granting exemption from taxes on the personal effects of members of the diaspora who decide to return permanently to the country.
In the same vein, the Department negotiated and signed cooperation agreements in the area of ​​labor mobility with Saudi Arabia. These Agreements have already been ratified by Burundi and will be implemented as soon as all the implementing texts are ready. Similar agreements are being negotiated with the United Arab Emirates, OMAN, QATAR etc.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, His Excellency Albert SHINGIRO stresses that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation attaches great importance to strengthening the relations with the members of the Diaspora to their dear homeland.
