Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Armenia

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, regional and international security, the situation in the context of Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine and its regional and global impact. The Bulgarian side expressed deep concern over the situation in Ukraine, sharing the European position on the importance of strict adherence to international sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation and minimizing the possibilities for circumventing them, with a view to making them an effective tool for ending Russian military aggression.
As a sign of excellent bilateral relations, during the visit, Deputy Minister Dimitrova also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia Armen Grigoryan and the Chairman of the Friendship Group Armenia – Bulgaria in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Anush Begloyan.
The consultations provided a comprehensive overview of bilateral relations, focusing on identifying areas for enhanced cooperation. In this sense, connectivity and security, especially in the context of the current international situation, have been brought to the fore. Emphasis was also placed on the intensification of trade and economic relations, including in the context of the opportunities provided by the Comprehensive and Deep Partnership Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Armenia, as well as in the context of the bilateral Agreement on Labor Migration.
The consultations were marked by the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Armenia and the forthcoming visits to Sofia this year by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alain Simonyan and the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturian.
Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Armenia at the level of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs were held on May 27, 2022 in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia. On the Bulgarian side, the consultations were led by Deputy Minister Irena Dimitrova, and on the Armenian side – by Deputy Minister Paruir Oganisian.
