Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Irena Dimitrova received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark Jes Brogaard Nielsen

Ambassador Nielsen handed over an official notification of Denmark’s accession to the European Common Security and Defence Policy as a result of the referendum held on 1 June this year, by which the country renounced its opt-out from this policy.
Deputy Minister Dimitrova welcomed this historic decision, contributing to the security of the EU member states at a time of heightened threat posed by the ongoing Russian military aggression in Ukraine. She briefly presented Bulgaria’s priorities for the upcoming NATO Summit in Madrid. They also discussed security in the region, strengthening the EU’s defence capabilities and humanitarian initiatives to overcome the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
