Deputy Minister Velislava Petrova talks with Ambassador Eric Pop, IOF Resident Representative for Central and Eastern Europe

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova met with Ambassador Eric Pop, Permanent Representative of the International Organization of La Francophonie to Central and Eastern Europe.

Deputy Minister Petrova confirmed that for Bulgaria participation in the Francophonie is a key political priority and expressed satisfaction with the excellent cooperation with the Francophone Regional Center for Central and Eastern Europe (CREFECO), based in Sofia. Ambassador Pop emphasized the contribution and active role of Bulgaria in the Francophonie.

The two interlocutors paid special attention to the opportunities to support the teaching of French in Bulgarian schools and universities, the improvement of knowledge of French among the representatives of the administration and the expansion of the use of French in international organizations and European institutions.

During his visit, Ambassador Eric Pop participated in a number of meetings and events dedicated to March 20 – International Francophonie Day.
