9th Ministerial Meeting of Joint Higher Committee between Kingdom of Bahrain, United Arab Emirates held
The 9th Ministerial Meeting of the Joint Higher Committee between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the brotherly United Arab Emirates was held online today, chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, and His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE, Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the participation of senior officials from the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Abu Dhabi, and the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed delivered a speech in which he noted the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the success and achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the face of the pandemic.
He reviewed the strong historic relations between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy, trade, investment, among many others. He also affirmed the keenness of both countries to further develop cooperation in many vital sectors for the benefit of both countries and people.
For his part, Dr. Al-Zayani affirmed that the meeting reflects the keenness of both countries to further enhance bilateral relations, following the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. He also valued the continued support of the UAE to the Kingdom of Bahrain in all forums.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of the higher joint committee from both sides, for their efforts during the previous joint meetings.
– During the meeting, a number of memoranda of understanding were signed in the following areas:
– Memorandum of Understanding between the Committee for Goods and Materials Subject to Import and Export Control in the United Arab Emirates, and the National Committee on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and their Destruction in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
– Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the media field.
– Memorandum of Understanding between the Zoo and Aquarium Public Institution in the United Arab Emirates, and Al Areen Reserve and Park in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
– Executive program in the field of electricity and water for the years 2021-2023.
– Executive program in the field of environmental protection and climate affairs for the years 2021-2023.
