The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, participated in the activity on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and the USA.
Diplomatic relations between Albania and the USA were established in 1922. After 50 years of separation because of the communist regime in Albania, the two countries re-established diplomatic relations in 1991.
Minister Xhaçka expressed gratitude for everything the US has done for Albania over the years and recently for the support in the EU membership process.
“We are today a country that makes a real contribution to security, stability and peace in the region and beyond. Albania in the Security Council is making a real contribution in addressing major issues that concern security and peace in the world. We have taken extraordinary steps towards modernization, Europeanization, building a functional and consolidated democracy based on the rule of law”, said the Albanian chief diplomat.
