IEA Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met in a bilateral in Tashkent with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, yesterday evening.

FM Muttaqi called the Tashkent conference beneficial, calling the statements by regional representatives’, particularly that of China’s support of Afghanistan.
Mr. Wang Yi praised the new Afghan government’s efforts in managing the economic and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, calling IEA’s progress in ensuring security considerably.
FM Muttaqi thanked China for the Ariana Afghan Airlines flights to Urumchi, adding that the initiative would help increase Afghan exports.
The meeting focused on Afghan-China relations and the economic and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
FM Muttaqi thanked China for its assistance to the quack-struck in Afghanistan, expressing hope that the progress made within the economic and humanitarian revival mechanism would be implemented between the two countries.
He also highlighted the overall Afghan-China cooperation under the economic and humanitarian revival mechanism framework, particularly in trade and agriculture to increase the Afghan agricultural products and reach self-reliance.
He also stressed that with ceased production of narcotics, China was ready to help Afghan farmers find an alternative livelihood. To this end, the Chinese foreign minister pledged that the visa issuance would begin on August 1st.
