KABUL – Deputy and Acting Foreign Minister Mirwais Nab met with the Assistant High Commissioner for Operations of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Raouf Mazou, this morning.
Welcoming Mr. Mazou and expressing gratitude to UNHCR for its invaluable cooperation with the Afghan refugees and internally displaced persons, Mr. Nab highlighted the condition of Afghan refugees and IDPs, the latest developments in the Afghan Peace Process, and dynamics of cooperation with other countries and regional and international organizations following the withdrawal of the Resolute Support forces.
Deputy Minister Nab called for the continuation of cooperation between Afghanistan and the UNHCR to address effectively the issues related to the Afghan refugees, IDPs, and repatriates.
Describing the purpose of his visit, Mr. Mazou stated that assisting refugees and IDPs was a priority for UNHCR. He also assured Deputy Minister Nab of UNHCR’s continued cooperation following the withdrawal of the Resolute Support forces from Afghanistan.
