Event: According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Cyclone Yaas is expected to make landfall between the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal by the morning of May 26. Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal will likely experience severe weather conditions. U.S. citizens should expect extremely heavy rainfall, gale force winds, and hazardous sea conditions. Low-lying areas might be flooded. Potential threats include damaged structures and falling objects; electricity, communication systems, and roadways may be disrupted.

· Seek secure shelter if a cyclone is affecting your area.
· Prepare to shelter in place until conditions improve by having enough drinking water, food, and other supplies at your residence. Review the list of recommended items for an emergency at https://www.ready.gov/kit.
· Make contingency plans to leave.
· Have evacuation plans that do not rely on U.S. government assistance.
· Notify friends and family of your safety.
