Secretary-General appoints Christine N. Umutoni of Rwanda United Nations Citizen Coordinator in Liberia

Just before joining the United Nations system, she worked as a advancement consultant, focusing on governance plus gender.   Ms.   Umutoni has worked with the Rwanda Government in various capacities.   She has served as both Rwanda’s Ambassador to Belgium, also accredited to the Holland, Luxembourg, European Union and the Vatican, based in Brussels, and Rwanda’s Ambassador to Uganda. Ms. Umutoni recently served as the Un Resident Coordinator in Mauritius and Seychelles.   She was already in this position prior to the United Nations reform.   Formerly, she was the United Nations Citizen and Humanitarian Coordinator plus United Nations Development Programme  (UNDP) Resident Representative in Eritrea. Just before her diplomatic assignments, she worked in the Office of the Leader as Adviser on Economic and Social Affairs plus supported the process of the decoration of Rwanda’s poverty decrease strategy among other things.   Microsoft.   Umutoni also served as Director of Cupboard at the Ministry of Rehab and Social Integration in  1994, after the war and genocide.   She was responsible for policy formulation, dexterity of ministry activities, plus international fundraising for post-genocide rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in Rwanda. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appointed Christine N. Umutoni of Rwanda as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Liberia, with the host Government’s authorization.   She takes up her post on 1  February. Ms. Umutoni also worked well for UNDP as Country Director in Zimbabwe, Nation Adviser in the Regional Agency for Africa at Head office in New York and Mind of Governance, Justice, Sex and HIV Units within Rwanda.   In this capacity, she supported the production associated with Rwanda’s first-ever Joint Governance Assessment report and capacity-building to governance institutions covering elections, anti-corruption, justice, individual rights and peacebuilding. She furthermore coordinated humanitarian aid, renovation, repatriation/resettlement of refugees and displaced persons, and supplied assistance to vulnerable groups, which includes widows and orphans.   From  1988 to  1994, she worked as Chairperson of the Rwandese Refugees Basis and contributed to various types of work during the crisis period in Rwanda.
