Foreign Minister meets with UNDP Representative



The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today, met with Mr. Jairo Valverde, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to Guyana. Mr. Valverde was accompanied by Mr. Jose Eguren, Senior Advisor at the UNDP Guyana Country Office.

During the meeting, Minister Todd and Mr. Valverde discussed the upcoming UNDP Country Programme for the period 2022-2026. Mr. Valverde highlighted that the country programme for Guyana will focus on priority areas of the government which include economic development, safety and security, natural resource management, equality and wellbeing.

The UNDP has been active in supporting the Government and people of Guyana in the pursuit of national development goals and objectives. The current country program was initiated in 2017 and will conclude at the end of 2021.
